The new Ducks scoreboard has finally arrived!
According to Daktronics, the overall dimensions of the new scoreboard are approximately 28.5 feet tall by 36.5 feet wide. It will consist of four main video displays in a rectangular shape hanging above center ice. The two displays on the sides facing the benches and press box will each measure approximately 20 feet high by 31 feet wide. The two displays on the end facing each goal will measure approximately 20 feet high by 20 feet wide. This is a similar design to the Tampa Bay Lightning or Colorado Avalanche scoreboards.
The advantage of the new scoreboard is the ability to show multiple content across each screen. There is the ability to show one large image for live video and instant replays, but each screen can also be separated into multiple windows to show a variety of content including scoring information, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics, sponsor messages, etc.
There are four corner wedge shaped displays that will measure approximately 20 feet high by 2 feet wide to provide additional display space for advertisements or images. An upper ring display circles the top of the system and will measure about 3 feet high by 118.5 feet in circumference. A lower ring display will circle the bottom of the system and will measure about 3 feet high by 112 feet in circumference.
The new scoreboard overall looks like the Columbus scoreboard with the four corner wedges with the upper and lower ring displays. It appears the two main screens facing the team benches and press box of the arena will be larger than the two screens facing the goals at the west and east ends of the arena.
Ducks fans and visitors to the Honda Center for other events should enjoy the new modern system with larger screens and a better sound system.
