Ryan Getzlaf was spotted returning to Orange County today. Sources saw him driving away from John Wayne airport earlier today. He will not be with the team in tonight’s contest. According to the Ducks he has an appendicitis and will need surgery (appendectomy non-emergency). The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. He will be out 4-12 days. He has been dealing with this issue for approximately 6 weeks.

The already struggling Anaheim Ducks will have to take on the Dallas Stars tonight without their Captain. They will have to finish the rest of the road trip without him. He likely not going to be able to play until some time next week at the earliest.

This adds to the list of injured Ducks players. Anaheim is already without Simon Despres and Josh Manson as both battle upper body injuries. Also Carl Hagelin has been dealing with upper body issues as well since training camp.

UPDATE 10-28-15: Per the Ducks Getzlaf’s surgery was successful today. The timetable for him to return is still 4-12 days. It means that he will likely miss tomorrow’s game against St. Louis and Sunday’s home game against the Nashville Predators.
