After another disappointing loss to Buffalo last night, the Anaheim Ducks got back to work today at practice. The Ducks have only scored one goal in their last two games and have been outscored 8-1. Last night they were also shut out for the 7th time this year.
So something has to change, right?
Today at practice the line combos and power play units were completely changed. It comes as no surprise because nothing is working for the Ducks right now. Their passes have been off, the forecheck has been inconsistent, the power play has been ineffective, and the quality scoring chances are far and few in between. The Ducks have only scored 5 goals in their last 5 games and haven’t scored in their last 13 power play attempts. According to Bruce Boudreau the lone bright spot last night was Jiri Sekac. Sekac seemed fresh and used his speed to create some good chances. He played well for all three period. Below are the line combos and power play units from today’s practice courtesy of Dan Wood.
Power Play Units
Hopefully a change in the line combinations and power play units will bring some life to the Ducks team. Remember these lines are just for practice today and may or may not be the actual line up for tomorrow. The bottom line is something needs to change and new line combinations are a must at this point because the Ducks offense has gone extinct like the Dodo bird. And also like the Dodo bird, the Ducks offense has been flightless this season.
