This season the Anaheim Ducks have used two options on the power play. Sometimes the strategy has been to use three forwards and two defensemen and others times it’s been four forwards and one defenseman. Today according to Eric Stephens of the OC Register, David Perron was on the power play unit at practice.

The Ducks used the four forward approach with Shea Theodore running the point position. Perron’s nose for the net could further help the Ducks during 5-on-5 play and the power play situations. It will be interesting to see what the first unit looks like come tomorrow against the Minnesota Wild.

According to the Ducks color analyst Dan Wood, all three goalies saw action at practice. Frederik Andersen was out early working with Ducks goalie coach Dwayne Roloson. It is not clear yet if he will be available for tomorrow’s contest, but the San Diego Gulls did recall Matt Hackett today, so it may not be likely that Andersen will play.

More information should be available after tomorrow’s morning skate. If you want to hear more about Perron’s possible impact on the Ducks then click the link to our podcast below.
