Last night the Anaheim Ducks beat the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime, but it appears John Gibson may have been injured. During the second period of the game, Richard Panik crashed into Gibson. Panik’s leg hit Gibson in the head causing him to be dazed for a moment. Gibson finished the second period, but did not return for the final frame. Early indications appeared that Gibson would be fine.

However, according to Eric Stephens, the Ducks have recalled Anton Khudobin as a result of play last night. Here is a video of the collision towards the end of the second period.

The extent of the injury has not been officially reported yet. A leg whip to the forehead is a cause for concern and could keep Gibson out for some time. Hopefully the injury is not serious and recalling Khudobin is just a precautionary measure.

UPDATE 2:23 PM PT:

Gibson is listed as day-to-day and could still dress out tomorrow according to Eric Stephens.
