Anaheim Ducks 40-22-9, 89 points, 2nd in the Pacific Division

The Anaheim Ducks went 3-1-0 this week. They beat New Jersey, Boston, and Winnipeg. The Ducks only loss was to the New York Rangers 2-1.

Win The Week?

The Ducks rebounded from last week and went 3-1-0. They were able to earn six points out of a possible eight. They remain in second place in the Pacific Division, four points behind Los Angeles.

Player of the Week

Jakob Silfverberg. He earned his first hat trick against New Jersey Devils as the Ducks won 7-1. He also had the game winning goal in overtime against Winnipeg. He registered six points in four games this week.

Injury News

Sami Vatanen

During the first period of the game against Colorado on March 9, Vatanen took an elbow to the head and didn’t return. He did not play this past week and is listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury.  Watch here: Vatanen Receives An Elbow

Kevin Bieksa

Bieksa left in the third period of the game against the St. Louis Blues last week and was listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury. He returned in the game against Boston and also played in the game against Winnipeg.

Nate Thompson

Thompson sustained a lower body injury last week and has not played since.

Chris Stewart

Stewart was seen working out on the ramp at Honda Center this past week. The metal was removed from his jaw and he should return soon.

David Perron

Perron went into the boards awkwardly hitting his shoulder. He didn’t return in the game yesterday against Winnipeg. Here is a video of the play:

The Ryan Kesler line took over the game as Kesler and Andrew Cogliano scored a goal each. Siflverberg scored his first hat trick and Nick Ritchie scored his first NHL goal.

March 16: Ducks lose 2-1 to the New York Rangers.

Anaheim’s Jamie McGinn scored first, but New York’s Kevin Klein was able to tie the game and then score the game winner in the third period.

March 18: Ducks blank Boston 4-0

Quick Recap: 

The Ducks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and added two more goals in the 3rd period to win 4-0. Clayton Stoner went toe-to-toe with Zdeno Chara and dropped him.

March 20: Ducks edge the Jets in overtime 3-2

Quick Recap: 

The Ducks got behind early, but were able to tie the game and get a 2-1 lead. The Jets tied the game and the contest went into overtime. A defensive breakdown allowed Jakob Silfverberg to get the game winning goal.
