Today’s Anaheim Ducks Gameday video showed goalie John Gibson wearing a mask similar to Guy Hebert‘s. The mask appears to be the third updated version of Hebert’s original mask. Gibson can be seen wearing the mask at the 50-second mark of the Ducks video here: Ducks vs Coyotes Pregame Video.
Dave Gunnarsson made a couple of tribute masks during the 2013-14 season for former Ducks goalie Viktor Fasth. The first version pictured below is similar to the color scheme of Hebert’s original mask, but with brighter colors.
The second version pictured below was made for Fasth to use during the Ducks stadium series game in 2013-14. This mask is very similar to the one Gibson is seen wearing in the screenshot depicted below.
The third version(pictured below) appears similar to the second version on the sides and crown of the helmet. A return to the white color around the face and the scroll like design, on the bottom depicting Gibson’s number 36 resembles the style of the original Hebert mask. It’s great to see Hebert’s mask being given tribute several times over in recent years.
