At practice today the Ducks focused on 3-on-3 play. Anaheim has been involved in three overtimes this season, losing all three. Last season, when the new format was introduced, the Ducks went into overtime 18 total times. They won four times and lost seven times during the 3-on-3 overtime. The remaining seven overtime sessions ended in a tie, going to a shootout.
One line combination used today was Ryan Kesler, Rickard Rakell, and Sami Vatanen. Some other combinations included Corey Perry, Jakob Silfverberg, and Cam Fowler and Kesler, Ryan Getzlaf, and Hampus Lindholm.
Clayton Stoner was not at practice and has been dealing with a lower-body injury. He did not play in the last game against the New Jersey Devils and is going to be reevaluated tomorrow. Kevin Bieksa also did not practice today. He and his wife are both sick. He went to the doctor this morning and head coach Randy Carlyle feels he will be good to go tomorrow.
This morning the Ducks recalled Ondrej Kase. He scored the game-tying goal last night with 1:01 remaining in regulation for the San Diego Gulls. The game went into overtime and eventually a shootout with the Gulls winning 3-2 against the San Jose Barracuda.
Kase was recalled because Joseph Cramarossa was injured in the Ducks come from behind 3-2 win against the Devils on Thursday night. Cramarossa accidentally collided with Rakell and had to leave the game as result. He sustained a lower-body injury and did not practice today. He is listed as day-to-day.
Kase has played in two games in Anaheim so far this season, recording one assist. He skated with Rakell and Antoine Vermette today. The updated forward lines from today’s practice are provided below.
