The Anaheim Ducks(9-7-3) continue their home stand tonight against the New York Islanders(5-8-4). This is the second and final meeting of the season. The Ducks lost the first meeting 3-2 in overtime in New York.
The Ducks are coming off a disappointing loss to Los Angeles. Anaheim couldn’t get anything going for 40 minutes of play and went down 3-0. They did rally in the third period but came up short losing 3-2. Recap: Ducks Fall Short of Tying Kings.
Ondrej Kase did play for Joseph Cramarossa on Sunday, who is dealing with a lower-body injury. Clayton Stoner is also dealing with a lower-body injury. The Ducks recalled Shea Theodore over the weekend and Randy Carlyle hinted that he could play this week. For more view yesterday’s practice report: Theodore Could Get Another Opportunity.
The key for the Ducks tonight is score three or more goals. This season when Anaheim scores at least three goals they are a perfect 9-0-0. Also all of Anaheim’s victories this season have come when they score at least three goals. Also key is Ryan Kesler scoring a goal. This season Anaheim is 6-0-0 when Kesler lights the lamp. Since coming to Anaheim, the Ducks are 20-0-1 at Honda Center when Kesler scores. The Ducks also can’t afford a slow start. They were 2-0 against the Islanders in their first meeting and were able to force overtime, but still lost.
