The Anaheim Ducks(23-13-8) face the Arizona Coyotes(13-22-6). The Ducks have played the Coyotes twice this season and have won both contests.
The Ducks conclude their mini-road trip of two games tonight against the Coyotes. The Ducks just played the Colorado Avalanche and won 4-1. Ryan Getzlaf returned to action after missing four games with a lower-body injury and earned an assist. Getzlaf played alongside Corey Perry, who finally scored a goal after going scoreless in his last 13 games. Ryan Kesler and Rickard Rakell each scored a goal and both lead the team with 17 goals. Jakob Silfverberg has 12 goals. Andrew Cogliano has 10 goals. Anaheim is in first place in the Pacific Division with 54 points.
Keys To The Game
The Ducks just recently played and beat the Coyotes 3-2 in overtime. The Coyotes had 18 block shots in that contests, so the Ducks need to work on getting the puck on net. The face-off battle was almost even in that game so Anaheim will look to win more draws especially with Getzlaf back in the lineup. Lastly, the Ducks need to work on their power play. They have just scored once with the extra man in their last five games going 1-for-15.
Anaheim’s Projected Lineup
John Gibson 17-10-7, GAA 2.34, SV% .920 (Unconfirmed)
Since dropping their last meeting to Anaheim, Arizona has won their last two games. They beat the New York Islanders 2-1 in a shootout and they edged the Winnipeg Jets last tonight 4-3. Brendan Perlini scored twice and former Ducks Jamie McGinn and Peter Holland each scored a goal apiece. Despite the two recent wins the Coyotes still find themselves in last place in the Pacific Division with 32 points. Radim Vrbata and Martin Hanzal lead the team with nine goals. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Tobias Rieder each have eight goals.
Key’s To The Game
The Coyotes played a tight game against the Ducks in their last meeting. The face-off battle was close to even and the Coyotes did a good job blocking shots. In order for the Coyotes to win tonight, they need to work on getting more shots on net. Since they played last night, scoring the first goal will help get them going early in this contest. Arizona did score on the power play the last time these two teams met so they will look to do that again tonight.
Arizona’s Projected Lineup
Mike Smith, 8-11-5, 2.83 GAA, .918 SV% (Unconfirmed)
