Game 50: Ducks Look To Ground Jets

By Michael Walters

The Anaheim Ducks(23-17-9) close out their homestand against the Winnipeg Jets(29-13-7). The Ducks are 0-1-0 against the Jets this season. The game starts at 7:00 PM PT and will be on Prime Ticket locally and AM 830.

Anaheim Outlook:

The Ducks are coming off a 6-3 smackdown of the New York Rangers. Randy Carlyle changed the forward lines at the right wing position and it appeared to work. Ondrej Kase started on top line, while Corey Perry was on the fourth line. J.T. Brown was on the second line and Jakob Silfverberg on the third. The Ducks ended up scoring six goals in their previous contest with four coming in the first period alone.

Keys To The Game

The Ducks need to find consistency in their game. They played terribly against the Sharks, but then terrific against the Rangers. The line changes certainty helped and it will be interesting to see how it works out tonight if Randy Carlyle does keep the same lineup. Anaheim also needs to get off to a good start to hopefully earn two points before the all-star break.

Anaheim’s Projected Lineup:

Rickard Rakell – Ryan Getzlaf – Ondrej Kase
Andrew Cogliano – Ryan Kesler – J.T. Brown
Nick Ritchie – Adam Henrique – Jakob Silfverberg
Chris Wagner – Antoine Vermette – Corey Perry

Cam Fowler  – Kevin Bieksa
Hampus Lindholm – Josh Manson
Francois Beauchemin – Brandon Montour

Winnipeg’s Outlook:

Jets come to Anaheim on a three-game winning streak beating Calgary, Vancouver, and San Jose. They are currently in first place in the Central Division. Patrik Laine leads the team with 21 goals. Nikolaj Ehlers has 19 and three others have 15.

Keys To The Game

The Jets have been a roll lately going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. The Jets are six in the league in scoring averaging 3.24 goals per game. They also have the second-best power play at 25.0% efficiency. Winnipeg will look to sustain a forecheck throughout the game and draw penalties to get their power play on the ice as much as possible.
