Anaheim Outlook

The Ducks are coming off a thrilling win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Anaheim came back from behind twice in the game, including late in the third period to force overtime. In the extra session, Frank Vatrano scored on a breakaway to give the Ducks a 3-2 win. Lukas Dostal was outstanding in net stopping 35 of 37 shots. The Ducks still need to clean up their play as they were shorthanded seven times in the game against Columbus.

Overall the Ducks have been playing well during even strength play, but then not so great on special teams. Anaheim is 76.5% efficient in killing penalties and 5.3% efficient on the power play. During even strength play Anaheim is posting a 47.96 CF% and 49.14 FF%. The Ducks are scoring on average 2.33 goals per game, while giving up 2.83 goals against on average.

Injury/Team News:

Robert Hagg was recalled from San Diego yesterday.

Jamie Drysdale (lower body injury) was placed on the IR retroactively to October 15th.

Brock McGinn is on the IR with a lower-body injury. He is listed as day-to-day.

Alex Killorn fractured his finger during a preseason game against the LA Kings on September 27th. He is expected to be out about 4-6 weeks. He was seen skating alone at Great Park Ice today.

Isac Lundestrom suffered an Achilles tendon injury while training in the beginning of July. He had surgery and the return time is about six months.

Boston Outlook 

The Bruins picked up where they left off after their record setting season last year. Boston has won their first six games. They beat the Ducks Sunday in Anaheim by a 3-1 final. The Ducks scored first in third period, but then Matthew Poitras scored his first two NHL goals to make it 2-1 in favor of the Bruins. Boston added an empty net goal to seal the victory. This will be the second and final meeting of the season between these two teams.

Boston is 13.6% efficient on the power play, which ranks 21st in the league. They are 96.0% efficient on the penalty kill, which is second best in the NHL. During even strength play Boston is posting a 49.74 CF% and 49.18 FF%. The Bruins are scoring on average 3.17 goals per game, while giving up 1.17 goals against on average.
