The Anaheim Ducks started their short road trip in Seattle against the Kraken. John Gibson was in net against Philipp Grubauer. Newly acquired Brock McGinn made his debut with Anaheim.

Max Jones got a breakaway in the opening moments of the game, but Grubauer was able to stop him.
The Kraken would break through first. Jamie Oleksiak got a pass in the slot and beat Gibson down low for the early 1-0 lead.
Seattle then made it 2-0 just over halfway through the period. Jared McCann beat Gibson from the left face-off circle with a shot over his shoulder.
Trevor Zegras got the Ducks on the board with an amazing goal. He broke in on the net and put the puck behind him and between his legs. He then shot the puck over Grubauer’s stick while the puck was behind him.
The Kraken answered with a late goal in the second period. Daniel Sprong took a shot which Gibson got a piece of with his glove, but it flipped over him and back into the net.
In the third period, Seattle went on a power play and scored to make it 4-1. Eeli Tolvanen scored on a one-timer from the right face-off circle.
Max Comtois scored with just under two minutes to go to make things interesting. Jakob Silfverberg and him had a 2-on-1 down low and Silfverberg found Comtois at the side of the net for the score.
With the score 4-2, the Ducks pulled Gibson for the extra attacker. Jaden Schwartz would score an empty net goal to make it a 5-2 final.
Analysis:
This was a rough game for Anaheim who couldn’t get much going offensively. After two periods of play the Kraken had 25 shots on goal to 15 for the Ducks and held a 3-1 lead. The Ducks did outshoot the Kraken in the third, but they were only able to get a late goal by Comtois when the game was basically over.
Zegras did provide some entertainment with his highlight reel goal as he scored between his legs. The goal was his team leading 21st on the season. At that point in the game, the Ducks were only down a goal and had some momentum, but Anaheim couldn’t capitalize on it. The Kraken scored in the final seconds of the middle frame and carried the momentum after that.

The Ducks play the Canucks tonight at 7 PM.
