The Anaheim Ducks went on the road to face the Seattle Kraken. Lukas Dostal was in net against Martin Jones. The Ducks were without Trevor Zegras(lower-body injury) and Troy Terry(personal) for this contest.

Recap

The Ducks had some good looks in the opening minutes of the game, but Jones stopped everything thrown his way. The teams both exchanged power plays and neither team converted with the man advantage.

Jaden Schwartz then gave Seattle a 1-0 lead about eight minutes into the game. He entered the Anaheim zone and took a shot at the top of the right face-off circle that beat Dostal stick side for the goal.

A few minutes Matty Beniers would score to make it a 2-0 game. Jared McCann found Beniers alone at the side of the net and he got Dostal go down low before putting the walking around him for the tap in goal.

Anaheim got on the board late in the second period to make it a 2-1 game. Brock McGinn one timed a pass from the right face-off circle and it went between Jones and post for the score.

In the third period, Seattle would get two goals late in the period to pull away for good. Daniel Sprong scored on the power play with just over four minutes left to go. He scored near the slot area shooting the puck high over Postal’s glove.

Two minutes later Alex Wennberg scored an empty net goal to seal the victory. Ducks lost by a 4-1 final.

Analysis:

Despite being without Terry and Zegras the Ducks were able to hang with the Kraken and only trailed by one goal until late in the third period. Max Comtois and Frank Vatrano had chances to tie up the game in the beginning of the third.

Special team played a role in this one. The Ducks went 0 for 2 on the power play and almost gave up a shorthanded goal. The Kraken converted on one of their two power play attempts.

The Ducks defense didn’t do themselves any favors giving up 39 shots on goal against. Dostal was able to keep the Ducks close as he stopped 35 of 38 shots on net in this one.
